Hearts
I've recently discovered these little beauties. They're Fair Trade and available online at Little Monkey Murals which is a UK childrens company. They're also fair value at £3.95 for a string of 5 hearts.
Sad but true I've asked my Mum if she can order a couple of strands and send them over to me (unfortunately they don't deliver out of the UK).
Is it bad I'm now shopping at children's shops?

Happy Shrove Tuesday
It's pancake day, which means we can all indulge in a little comfort eating heyhey!
Here's a recipe I found on Taste for a basic crepe.
These crepes are best made in an large non-stick frying pan.
Makes
12 crepes
Ingredients
1 cup plain flour
2 cups milk
3 eggs
olive oil cooking spray
Method
Sift flour into a bowl. Whisk milk and eggs together in a jug. Add milk mixture to flour. Whisk until well combined.
Spray a medium, non-stick frying pan with oil. Heat over medium heat. Pour 2 1/2 tablespoons batter into pan. Swirl to cover base. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until light golden. Turn over and cook for 1 minute. Transfer to a plate. Cover to keep warm. Repeat with remaining batter.
Tips
You can use this recipe for savoury or sweet dishes. I love mine with ricotta, honey, strawberrys and blueberrys - yum!

Some of my Treasures
My jewellery, I have so much that I need quite a few bowls to store it in (in addition to my actual jewellery boxes).
A key chain necklace I got at the markets last year at Newtown Festival.
A black perspex bird which was sold on a chain as a necklace which I bought in little boutique in China Town.
My Christmas tree star, a glass bauble heart and cut glass oval mirror.
More to come...
Midsummer Parties
It's summer in Sydney at the moment (hurrah) and what better way to spend an evening or weekend with friends than with an outdoor summer party.
Picnic, barbeque, lanterns, candles, bonfire, dress up, dress down - anything goes in summer :-)
My brother, Louis is one of the best photographers I know.
Above and below is a small sample of his work which captures the essence of a midsummer eve party.

Love is in the air
Happy Valentines Day.
A series of my own images above:
Top - hanging wire heart which holds letters, postcards with a little red peg, a present from the UK.
Middle - a lavender scented gingham heart, again a present.
Bottom - one of my Papaya favs, wire, beads, pearls and ceramic white star (I have a few!) I've distorted the image so I'll post another later so you can see it properly.

Style by the Book
I've recently discovered these great little books run by a small Japanese publishing house, Paumes. They publish various styles from Copenhagen appartments, Parisian studios, London Kitchens and Stockholm's Ateliers (amongst others). Full of visual inspiration, colour and aesthetic, I'd encourage you to have a look!

Welcome to Cornflake
I set up this blog to share my passion for discovering good deals without compromising taste and style.
A reformed shopaholic (minus the credit cards) I really believe you don't have to spend a lot of money to have a good time, look great or treat yourself.
Cornflake is a chance for me to share my ideas on where to: shop, eat out, entertain as well as how to: spend a weekend, look great, decorate your home and much, much more.
With a desire to make this blog fun and amusing with inspiring and interesting updates, I hope it leaves you entertained, amused and gasping for more.
Happy reading!
