New Zealand mini trip

I thought I'd share with you a few of my photos from my recent trip to New Zealand. It was a work trip but I got some time at the end of it to do some exploring. Did you know the north island has 54 dormant volcanoes? They makes it's landscape incredibly beautiful.

The first two photos are of Lake Rotokakahi and Lake Tarawera, the third is of Rotorua and the fourth is of some of the yachts in Auckland's harbour.

Have a lovely weekend everyone! I can't wait, lots of catching up on sleep, catching up with friends and... squeezing in a little treasure hunting of course ;-)!

Pretty good organising

{Image 1, 2}

This is what I need, along with those wall to wall shelves I mentioned yesterday, good storage solutions.

Um okay...and loads of beautifully colour co-ordinated, far too pretty to wear lingerie and a fantastic shoe collection along with magnificent tall French gilt mirror and everything else my eye can see in these pictures! ;-)

Really not sure how good I'd be at putting my undies neatly in these little drawer compartments - so pretty but who has time!?

Off to look at sofas again tonight, still haven't found 'the one' - who'd have thought it could be so hard!

Cramming it in

{Image 1, 2, 3}

Hallo, I'm back! New Zealand and all the catching up, phewee it's been a busy week!

I feel this post aptly describes me at the moment - 'cramming it in'! So much to do and as usual so little time, seriously how does this happen with all our mod cons these days!!?

I've missed you all, can't wait to catch up on my favourite reads.

Loving the rooms above, very me. I'd love to fill wall to wall shelves with all my lovely thrifty vintage, retro, antique finds and travel treasures, at the moment though my bookcase will just have to do! :-)

Have a lovely day!

Thanks Mum :-)

Hello, just a quick post. Here's my present from my Mum that I mentioned last weekend. I know quite a few of your were intrigued!! A beautiful pale peach lace scarf, isn't it lovely? It goes so well with black and my vintage bead necklace. Thanks Mum, it looks great! :-)

We have sun today hurrah, I'm quickly nipping down to the beach to unwind and get back to what life's all about i.e. not work haha! Hope you're all having a great start to your weekend!

Around my home...

I just thought I'd show you some colour in my home, there's lots more, trust me, this is just a teaser! The little enamel pots came from Tree of Life - a great ethical homewares shop in Sydney so you know your dollars are going some way to help those in India that made these beautiful things. The cushions, on our bed, are all thrift at $3 a pop, except for the black and white one which I pick up for $6 from a local dollar shop. I have more of them on our sofa! The starfish/flower over our headboard is our ode (amongst others) to beach living, I bought it from a gift shop in Manly more than a year ago. The angle I took this photo it looks miles above the bed but it's not!
Phew I'm beat, this week has been intense, I'm so ready for the weekend!! Hope to catch up with all of you then, thanks so much for stopping by! :-)

Colour me happy

{Image 1, 2, 3}

Oh my I really need some colour today!!! I have the winter blues and not the turquoise variety! ;-)

These gorgeous happy rooms are designed by Holly Dyment an interior designer I can't help but admire. Love them all especially the first one for obvious reasons and j'adore that gilt mirror and headboard!

Wishing you a lovely Wednesday lovely blogging friends!

Sophisticated beauty

{Images 1, 2}

I love these airy, light, beautifully designed rooms. Probably something to do with the stunning chandeliers hanging in them...but I also love the gold cushions and soft pink touches.

I got up super early this morning to watch the grand final in the World Cup and I couldn't be happier with the outcome, viva EspaƱa!!! My Spanish girlfriends are so thrilled, they're partying it up in Madrid and Andalucia, wish I was there with them the vibe would be amazing right now! Did anyone else watch it or is that a stupid question?

We had to get up for a 4.30am here (in reality we got up at 3.30am so we could get to our friends house to watch it with them)! Breakfast consisted (at 5.00am) of chocolate muffins, cookies and lots of coffee to stay awake, lol!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. My Mum's present is gorgeous, will show you once I get time to take a photo! :-)

Mini cupcakes and a gift

Here is one of my mini cupcakes I baked the other day with the coloured chocolate drops. They really have helped my sore throat ;-) Thanks so much for all your sweet well wishes and encouragement to bake!

If you have a keen eye for china you'll notice my little saucer is Royal Doulton. I got it from my local antique shop for $5! I think the lady selling it accidently under sold it, as they usually go for a lot, lot more. I love the fact it is pink and turquoise!

A parcel arrived yesterday from my Mum, bless her. And she wrapped it in my favourite colour, that's right turquoise! Aren't Mums good!

I'm just about to open it.... so excited.

I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend!

Winter warmers

Brrrr, it's so cold outside at the moment and I'm feeling a little run down (I have a sore throat) so I think another batch of cupcakes is in order. What do you reckon?

I have some cute colourful chocolate drops to decorate them with and I might even go as far as turning them into butterflies! My Mum used to make these all the time (okay, not quite all the time but you know what I mean) when I was little! :-)

I hope everyone is having a good week so far, sorry if I haven’t visited you for a while, I’ve been quite busy recently but I’m looking forward to catching up soon!

I just want to say as well that I really appreciate all your lovely comments (when they appear, lol, thanks Blogger!), suggestions and advice that you’ve been giving me and a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who is following!! It really makes my day and I’m so happy to have found so many other peeps interested in the same things as me! :-D

Have a lovely day!

Vase love

{Image 1}

We went for Christmas in July to the Blue Mountains at the weekend with some friends so I had no time to take photos for today's 'Thrifty Tuesday' but I did buy some pretty vases which I’ll show you next week! There was the annual antique fair on in Blackheath (what a coincidence) which a girlfriend and I visited and we both found some lovely things. Oh my goodness, we had such a relaxing time, it's so good to escape the city once in a while! :-)

I do love vases but lately they seem to be the main feature in my little shopping sprees (funny how that happens). Just like flowers though, I don’t think a girl can ever have enough! I love these beauties above.

Happy Tuesday!

Thrift by design ~ house tour

{Images all here}.

This has to be my favourite house tour that Apartment Therapy has shown yet. I love this place!

The fairy lights are adorable over the window in the kitchen and I love how everything is colourful, mismatched and so aesthetically pleasing. This home belongs to Heidi Schmalbach and Lauren Oholendt (you can see more here). They are both avid collectors (clearly) of beautiful things. Everything you see here in their home has been bought from thrift stores and vintage shops.

Like me they also live in a rental property, which I think only goes to prove once more that it’s only your imagination that can hold you back!

As is probably evident by some of my posts, I’m still putting my home together :-) but I hope to give you a little house tour in the next few months when I’ve completed some of my projects. Watch this space!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Inspiring spaces

{Image 1, 2, 3}

Loving these spaces! Not sure how easy the chalkboard bedroom is to recreate however but I like the drawn on headboard!

Feeling much better today, the strawberries really helped in addition to copious amounts of peppermint tea, a cheese croissant and a huge bowl of pumpkin ravioli amongst other things... :-)
Wishing you all a great weekend!!

Mmm...strawberries

Strawberries for breakfast, yum. I really need these right now.

We had our end of financial year drinks party last night and I didn't realise until this morning quite how much I enjoyed myself! Too much talking and drinking and not enough eating, which is very unlike me! My body now needs a little cleanse and strawberries are the way forward...

Thanks so much for your lovely comments about my projects, it's really nice to know I'm not alone! I'll definitely keep you all updated, I'm hoping the fact that I've blogged about it will speed me up! :-)

Oh, if you're having a sale which you'd like more people to know about you're more than welcome to use Cornflake! Just shoot me and email with the details and I'll see what I can do!

I hope everyone is having a good week!
