Pottering

A weekend of pottering and inner city strolls (we didn't make it to the Blue Mountains in the end - too busy chilling). The weather was bitingly cold but really sunny which made it worth stepping outside. It was so relaxing and just what we needed.

I found time to play around at home re-arranging things and buy some baby daffodils which I put in my 'goldfish bowl' style vase. Also, to delve into our bookcase and start reading one of my all time favourite books, Persuasion. To cap off a truly lazy couple of days Mr cooked up a big Sunday (vegetarian) roast dinner (truly yummy, especially because we had really strong vintage chedder and pickles) and ate it in front of Downtown Abbey - which I am hooked on!

What did you get up to this weekend, did you relax, fit in lots or balance a bit of both?

You can't have it all...

This is a favourite expression of my Mum's and while there is undoubtedly truth to it I often find myself guilty of trying to have it all (hehe). Is anyone else the same? I mean take the images above. There are so many delectable styles and homes repleat with wonderful natural old features that I fall in love with, how do you choose (assuming of course, unlimited choice - which of course I don't have)?

Whether it's getting gorgeous clothes or finding accessories for the home or trying to get the work/life, with more emphasis on life (of course), balance right or wanting to go travelling for a year and still have enough money left over to buy a house and be able to have a big family and a garden with chickens and a vegetable patch and...Quite frankly the list goes on but I think you get the idea...

Well, it's almost here folks. Have a super weekend wherever you may be. Pleased to report that Mr has finished all his work now, so its just me and him going for fun little outings around Sydney and we're doing a spot of furniture shopping too which is, of course, very exciting for a girl.

Beautiful pictures sourced via the wonderful Brabourne Farm. I want it all ;-)

The great indoors

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, I've gone into hibernation mode. Spending a lot of time indoors at home keeping warm and making lots of hearty food for my poor Mr who has been snowed with work this month getting up at 4am most mornings and working weekends too :-(

But it comes to an end this week (hurrah) and very much looking forward to putting our feet up this weekend together. May even venture into the great outdoors and visit the blue mountains which I see and hear from news reports has turned into a winter wonderland covered head to toe in snow - how magical. Hope you're all having a good week!

Fine art prints available here and here.

Happy days

A little shout out today to our friends Anastazja and Braden who just tied the knot back in Ana's native homeland Poland. Isn't this the most beautiful and romantic photo you've ever seen? Unfortunately we couldn't be there to join in their joy but we're sending our love from back home in Sydney.

An English country garden

I remember way back when I said I’d post some photos (when I got them – thanks Mum) of my parents garden in Spring/Summer. Here are a couple taken a month or so ago. They have the most amazing mix of rhododendrons, lilacs, blossoms and foxgloves (amongst others).

So beautiful! Am a weeny bit jealous too as we don’t really get gardens like this is Oz, except maybe in the Blue Mountains where the climate and soil is right for growing certain plants. In Leura they have the most stunning row of cherry blossoms planted through the village – so pretty.

It’s a long weekend over here this weekend and boy am I glad of it. I'm doing n.o.t.h.i.n.g, no plans, nadder :-). Have a good one my friends! x

A vintage haven

Letting you in on a little secret of mine today, Haven Vintage. There’s nothing quite like exquisite styling to make you want to buy things, especially yummy vintage goodies. Love old things which have had a bit of wear and tear and love. I sound like a Granny when I say this but its true - they made things a lot better and a lot more attractive ‘back in the day’. Okay, at least I didn't say 'back in my day'!

Okay, hands up who’s feeling cold at the moment? I’m trying to keep warm but it’s proving harder than I thought. Mum sent me a link today to a great local website called Woolovers that sell good old British wool jumpers, will have to check it out!

Laundry days

{via}

I've been having a lot of these lately, although my laundry is not quite so pretty! Hope you all had a great weekend? Aside from chores we had quite a fun filled time with a big extravagant dinner at friends' on Saturday night, a little boutique shopping, a beach walk and some surfing - which was Mr not me, I'm terrible coping with waves!

Bunking down

{via}

All I want to do this week is bunk down and make pretty little changes around our place as we settle into this wet and cold weather (yup, the joyous sunny weather we've been enjoying has now deserted us). I seem to be onto a bit of a theme at the moment which essentially has hibernation in mind!

Today is officially the first day of winter over here so it's time to pull out the electric blankets, start baking (comfort food), throw on those ugg boots and string up those fairy lights! :-)
