A favourite in my home

Today I'm playing along with Friday Pretties at I Love Pretty Little Things so thought I'd share a favourite little piece in my home - my chandelier wreath.

Again, in lieu of a real chandelier due to inappropriate light fittings in my little rented abode, I have (refused to go without;-)) added another little bit of sparkle with this crystal drop wreath which I bought last Christmas. Yup, apparently this is Christmas stock and a Christmas wreath but then again I am living in Australia (you tend to get a lighter, beachier feel) and I am living in Sydney (if you know Sydney at all then you'll know what I mean!)

Anyway it was love at first sight and this savvy shopper bought it in the sale (of course). I don't know about you but I think it's an all year round wreath/decoration/pretty thing. It hangs just as you see it at the side of my bookcase but I had to stand on a chair to get this angle!

Can you spot in the blurry background my recent thrift buys on my bookcase? Also a certain initial from a certain Typo which I mentioned last week?

Have a great weekend everyone! :-)

Adding some sparkle

Unable to have a chandelier by default of renting and not having the right light fittings, I decided to add some glamour to my lamp today by adding some old chandelier crystals that I picked up at the markets.

I just threaded them with beading wire and then rather crudely hooked them on to a circle of cardboard (from a cereal packet!!) with a hole in the middle to go over the light fitting. Unless you look inside the lamp you can't see this of course ;-)

Just playing around with Picasa 3 (if you haven't already, download it from Google, it's free!) creating different effects adding colour to my ranunculus, thanks Sarah! I always forget what flowers I'm buying even though my florist tells me - I'm terrible with names!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

Sophisticated beauty

{Images 1, 2}

I love these airy, light, beautifully designed rooms. Probably something to do with the stunning chandeliers hanging in them...but I also love the gold cushions and soft pink touches.

I got up super early this morning to watch the grand final in the World Cup and I couldn't be happier with the outcome, viva EspaƱa!!! My Spanish girlfriends are so thrilled, they're partying it up in Madrid and Andalucia, wish I was there with them the vibe would be amazing right now! Did anyone else watch it or is that a stupid question?

We had to get up for a 4.30am here (in reality we got up at 3.30am so we could get to our friends house to watch it with them)! Breakfast consisted (at 5.00am) of chocolate muffins, cookies and lots of coffee to stay awake, lol!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. My Mum's present is gorgeous, will show you once I get time to take a photo! :-)

Chandelier Love

{Image 1, 2, 3}

I just adore chandeliers, I often think you can get away with the most awful looking room as long as there's a chandelier elegantly hanging from the ceiling!

I have a French antique one in my bedroom at home in England (you can see here) which has blue teardrops hanging from it. My Mum gave it to me a few years ago despite being a complete Francophile. I wish I had it here in Sydney though so I could admire it's beauty on a daily basis!

Over the years I've become increasingly attracted to lovely delicate wire hanging candelabras that hold taper candles like the one in the picture on the left.

Are chandeliers your cup of tea and if so what kind of do you like/lust after?

And,
how often do you look at an interior and find it's really the chandelier selling it to you? ;-)

My bedroom

{Image 1}

Haha, okay, okay it's my 'dream' bedroom but without a doubt this is The One. I'm in love.

Is anyone else sharing my passion?

Most of all I really want the hanging candelabra, if anyone knows where I can buy a similar one (it looks handmade) please let me know!! :-)
