Playing with Buttons

I'm feeling a little creative at the moment so have brought out my beads and buttons ready for playing with this weekend. I love messing around making things, it's so therapeutic!

By the by, this little flower bowl was another thrift buy ($1) along with my favourite mug for drinking tea which I showed the other week. Don't underestimate the power of the dollar (singular) folks!

Have a great weekend everyone! :-)

p.s. sorry the dates of my posts are all out of synch, it's because I kick them off in draft (oh me of little time in the mornings) but I've noticed now that they are all incorrectly dated, whoopsie daisy!

My bedroom

{Image 1}

Haha, okay, okay it's my 'dream' bedroom but without a doubt this is The One. I'm in love.

Is anyone else sharing my passion?

Most of all I really want the hanging candelabra, if anyone knows where I can buy a similar one (it looks handmade) please let me know!! :-)

Wednesday's wish list ♥

{Hair pieces by Cultivar, bowls from the aptly named Julie's Adorabowls}

Decisions, decisions, decisions. What's a girl to do when surrounded by so many gorgeous things?

I really can't decide which plate I like the most. May be the last one? Flower headpiece? Probably the first set but I do like those blues...

Which one(s) would you go for? :-)

Thrifty Tuesday

My latest treasure hunting brought me these cute finds!

The fish is Genevieve Lethu and was $8, the white cushion (so cute) $3, the yellow and blue flower large cushion cover (visible underneath) is from Kenzo Paris and was $5, the silk button clip on earrings were $2 and finally the vintage plate was $1.50.

Bargain!

Classics to Remember

{images: here and here}

Oh what to do when it's a rainy day and plans have changed? Seek inspiration of course!

These Liberty fabrics take me back to my childhood. My mother adored them and took me to the store every time we visited London. I was far too young to appreciate them and very anti-chintz, especially when threatened with the prospect of these fabrics being worn.

Funny how you grow up and your taste changes. I'd love to get my hands on some of these prints now, shame no one is sending any over to our local thrift shop!

I like the middle image of the shop being covered head to toe in the classic Betsy fabric last year.

My Fantasy Kitchen

{Image 1}

I'm sitting here drinking my morning coffee being completely seduced. It's not hard for me to go off into the la la fantasy land of wishful thinking but a girl can dream right?

No, I think a girl can get inspired and that this look can be successfully recreated (to an extent) with the tip I posted about before on creating the shabby chic look and including that to buying vintage/antique plates and fabric from the usual suspects. Its' all about wanting it enough and being positive and resourceful!

Have a lovely weekend! We have a long one here for Anzac Day woop woop, so no work on Monday heyhey :-)

Paying a little visit...

...to 2 friends.

Really very flattered to have received another award (my second) in the 3 months I've been blogging. Thanks Shawna from Poppies and Sunshine! :-)

I now award the Your Blog is over the TOP! (see right column) to two favourite bloggers of mine who inspired me from the start:

Simone from Beach Vintage - for all her stunning photographs, being a fantastic buyer of thrift and having the most wonderfully charming, beautiful home and sharing it with us.

and...

Koralee from Bluebird Notes - for all her outrageously professional, beautiful photographs and compositions, sweet notes and thoughts.

Thank you both!

{this photo actually is of me paying a visit...but to the BBQ on Australia Day, lol}

A little Shabby Chic

{Images, 1, 2, 3, 4}

Mmmm...yes, I could quite happily live here. I'd need a cleaner of course because there is no way I'd be able to keep all this white, beautifully bright and smudge proof! lol.

One of the things I love most about the shabby chic look is that you don't, and shouldn't have to, spend a lot to achieve it. I'm naturally drawn towards French inspired boutiques that have sumptuous things on display but, more often than not, I find (on closer inspection) they're reproduced goods that are significantly overpriced for what they are.

I say go second hand (flea markets, charity shops, car boot sales) find a piece of furniture that has an appealing/attractive shape, sand it down, paint it white, then sand on top for that distressed look!

I have a little Victorian (style) side table I picked up for $20 on Gumtree waiting for such treatment! Now if only I had a window of time...

Wednesday's wish list ♥

I'll take........

...all of them!

I don’t mean to be showcasing jewellery for a third consecutive week but I came across these gems by Tamar the other day and despite wanting each colourful, cheery piece for myself, I just had to share them with you!

Complete eye candy, so delicious. Is anyone else feeling hungry?

Thrifty Tuesday

It's that time of the week again :-)

Here's a little Chinese dish I picked up on the weekend for a $1. I wasn't sure about it at first but I was definitely attracted to it so, to save further deliberation over a dollar, I snapped it up anyway!

Turns out the dip in the centre is the perfect size for a tea light or putting an egg cup in.

To bring out the colour in the photo I added a bit of thrift I picked up in China a few years ago, my blue flower bracelet and offset that with some ♥ beads.

Chinese Roses

A splash of colour for a Monday morning!

While a white walls girl at heart I do love colour and if I ever wallpapered a wall in my 'dream house' I would be seriously tempted by these wallpapers by Brian Yates above. I think I'm leaning towards the yellow...

Hope you all had a lovely weekend x

Look what I've got

Isn't it gorgeous? and the colours are so me! The wonderfully talented Tania from Chicken Ink Creative made this for me (I was eyeing her creations up last month) and I'm absolutely thrilled.

Tania makes the most beautiful notebooks and purses from her home in Melbourne and she loves making custom orders such as mine above (which is proving very popular).

It's so nice to know someone has put the time, care and effort into creating things that are unique and special for me.

If you ♥ handmade as much as me check out the Aussie version of Etsy, Made It!
