An interesting space

{Image 1}

I really like the look of this room or is it a shop? Hard to tell but whichever it is, it's really interesting.

It reminds me of my Aunty's house which is covered, head to toe with beautiful fascinating things and is often mistaken for a gift shop! She's an artist and loves to collect art, antiques and fun, expressive pieces which she displays in every part of her home.

Each time I visit I find myself completely distracted from conversation as I look at every square inch of every room. Despite having been there many times she likes to change things up to keep it fresh and engaging (as do I, I've just realised!)

Living in an old thatched cottage (it's adorable - I will see if I can get some pics to show you) with beams along the ceilings she has little ornaments lined up and hanging everywhere, including the windows!

Along with my Mum, Annie has been a huge influence on my style. Do you know anyone like this?

  3. Hi Anna,
Have been offline for a bit and so much has happened to your blog.Love the changes. Aunty Joan is my greatest influence. The silver is on display, heaps of china, ornaments and collections everywhere. There is a place for everything even if there isn't!! Not a speck of dust though and she knows exactly where everything came from. Fantastic post Anna.

  4. My Aunty's house is also like this, not as much stuff but she's found amazing things from all over the world and things she's made like quilts on the walls and marionette (s?) puppets hanging from the ceiling. So cool!

  10. Your aunt sounds a lot like my Mum!! Some people would call her a 'Hoarder' but she definitely goes around collecting the most interesting pieces and putting them into her home! And she is forever changing everything around!!

While she goes for the antique or recycled style of homewares I choose more of a modern minimalist look... so polar opposites... isn't it funny how we sometimes do that, choose a direction completely opposite to that of our parents!

  12. Hi Anna

I too love the look of that room. Such character and atmosphere. Your Aunt's house must be beautiful!

My Aunt Suzy from Belgium had a great infuence on me when I got older. I loved her house and her ability to sew and create beautiful things throughout her house.

    Warm wishes

  14. Love this room! I too adore rooms filled with eclectic, pretty things, the more the merrier, I say! My design influence is my stepmother, she is an interior designer, so she knows her stuff! Her style is French Country, she managed to transform my parents' Florida McMansion (which is very Florida style, not that attractive on its own) into a little French chateau, and she's also great at furniture refinishing, she has always influenced my style!

  16. Hi Anna, I have a couple of people that showed up on my e-mail that they signed up for the link, but their link isn't there. ? I really like it when things work the way they are suppose to and am really frustrated when they don't! If it doesn't show up, I will post your link on my Friday post. Hopefully it will work eventually, but either way, you will be on Friday Pretties. Thanks for playing, and sorry for the hassle!
    See You Friday!

  21. Interesting Indeed! I love it!
My Mom made her own wallpaper out of National Geographic magazines! She also has a room of her dried flowers(from her garden) hanging from the entire ceiling!
Hope you are having a wonderful day!
