Trying my luck

Hey everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend? I had a really lovely one, packed to the rafters with laughter with friends, a lovely dinner out on Saturday, a trip to Cockatoo Island for the biennale art exhibition and a big Sunday dinner with my other half's godparents.

We also found time to make a quick trip to Ikea as we are in currently in serious need of a sofa up grade. I probably shouldn't admit this but the one we have is about fourth hand and was given to us from friends who no longer had a use for it about 2 years ago. Yup, we seriously need a new one!!

The one we had our eye on in the store just didn't give enough back support and the others looked really grandparenty-ish so we left empty handed. Before leaving we did spot, or I spotted, this beauty below which is a day bed. I have always wanted one of these and while it's not a sofa as such, I thought a mass of cushions and throws (which I already have) would look great on it.

I know I'm trying my luck and I don't think I stand a chance of getting it, especially because it only comes in powder blue, but what do you think? Day bed or not day bed? :-)

  2. I love this day bed! I'm actually going to look into getting it for my son's room. As for a couch, it would look awesome, but I don't know if it would be the type of couch you could really lounge on. It would need a ton of pillows. Can you show us the final product if you decide on it??

  3. I like the daybed very much but as a couch it might depend on the style of the room? You wouldn't want it sticking out like a sore thumb but it would be a great excuse to get a heap of new cushions!!

  7. I can totally picture pillows on this. Soo cute! I say yes to the daybed. I am in dire need of a sofa too. I just got rid of one that who knows how many times it had been handed down!

  8. Well...it's blue / hinting turquoise-ish so I love it! I don't know if it will be very comfy? I guess it depends on the mattress... But it looks nice! I would say, go for it..

  10. I love the daybed - but just am not sure that it would be the best replacement for a sofa. Would it ever be as comfortable as a sofa, even with a heap of gorgeous cushions? Tough decision. xx

  14. I think not (against the trend) - they look good but are never comfortable in my experience, so a little French-style sofa on carved legs might be better?

  18. Sounds like you had a gorgeous weekend! I spent mine getting the house ready for another home open, painting my friends new (old) house, and trying to survive the flu... which now is tonsillitis! Ewww... can I have your weekend instead?? Please?
I love the daybed, maybe not as the main couch, but perfect for looking cute and for additional seating, smothered in all your gorgeous cushions of course!

  21. Oh, it's gorgeous! I love it! Would I use it in place of a sofa? Probably not, I don't know, but I LOVE it, and I also love the powder blue! We are in a similar sofa situation, ours is beige leather, left over from my husband's bachelor days in South Florida - yikes!!!! XO!

  25. Sounds like you had a really lovely weekend. I think that would be great as a day-bed as long as you threw on heaps of comfy pillows for back support. I think the colour will be beautiful! x
